Parajet Rotary Engine Development 2009

After the ultimate test of reliability and performance in May 2007 the Parajet Rotron rotary engine enabled paramotor pilot Bear Grylls to break all existing altitude records and to look down on the summit of Mount Everest.

From this, Parajet has developed the Rotron power unit.  It is available in two sizes 160cc and 294cc.  See below for technical specifications.

When it comes to personal aircraft the rotary engine is truly in its element. With fewer moving parts than a standard piston driven internal combustion engine and power delivery as smooth and progressive as an electric motor, the Rotron power unit is set to become the industry standard. The Rotron engine will power our new range of paramotors called the Cyclone.  Like the Volution, the Cyclones are available in Compact and Macro sizes, and unlike the Volution range, there is the choice of 2 engine sizes with 160cc or 294cc.

Key Advantages

  • Zero Vibration
  • Extremely high power to weight ratio
  • Compact Size
  • Improved fuel efficiency over standard two-stroke aircraft engine (up tp 20%)
  • High mechanical reliability (rotary engines do not seize and mechanical failure is extremely rare due to rotary motion as opposed to a pistons reciprocating motion)
